African Village

"Successful job hunting isn't about luck, chance, or hope...Successful job hunting is a SCIENCE!" - Mildred Talabi

There’s an African proverb that says, “It takes a village to raise a child”, which suggests that raising a child requires work that goes beyond the child’s parents to the society in which the child is born into.
For a child to be fed, educated and developed into a fully-functioning adult, he or she has to engage with people beyond his or her parents.

In the same way, finding a job is not a solitary affair – it involves other people at different stages. Whether it’s getting a second pair of eyes to check over your CV, asking friends and family to look out for vacancies, or getting feedback from an employer after the interview, you need the involvement of other people to successfully go from jobless to employed.

This isn’t the same as the victim mindset of making it other people’s responsibility; no, it’s still your responsibility to find a job, but to do it effectively you will need support.

The lesson here is about asking your network for help. we all need support and help at some point in anything we do.
